Morton/White Pass opened the Ilwaco Tournament against Naselle last Tuesday and fell 46-27.
The Timberwolves trailed the Comets 13-5 with three minutes left in the first quarter. Over the next five minutes Morton/White Pass scored 10 straight points for a 15-13 lead. The T-Wolves then went ice cold going scoreless for 11:14 and without a field goal for another 2:15 after that. They trailed 30-15 at the half and 38-20 after three.
Naselle shot 52 percent in the first half (13 of 25), 41 percent for the game (19 of 46), and they outrebounded Morton/White Pass 37-33.
Freshman Ashley Kelly scored 13 points on 5 of 8 shooting and grabbed four steals (she leads the team hitting 52 percent of her shots this season). Whitney Elledge added five points, Nicole Anderson four, Chelbi Eveland and Kayla Reynolds two each, and Darian Atkinson one.
Morton/White Pass was just 10 of 48 shooting from the field for the game (.208) and 1 of 12 from beyond the arc (.083). Stefana Bertucci finished with a game-high nine rebounds.
