vs Northwest Christian (Feb.15, 2011 / district at Centralia)

In Centralia last Tuesday, Morton/White Pass won their first ever district game with a 49-40 victory over the Navigators from Northwest Christian.
"I was proud of the girls for getting a district win," coach Lauren Kanyer said. "We won because we believed in our team and that if we outworked them we would win."
The Timberwolves trailed 20-16 at the half, but outscored the Navigators 33-22 in the final two quarters for the nine-point win. They went 7 of 10 from the free throw line over the last 1:34 to hold off Northwest Christian.
Freshmen Ashley Kelly (20 points) and Whitney Elledge (15 pts) combined for 35 of the 49 points. Kelly tied her career-best in points which included a pair of three-pointers, 6 of 10 free tosses, six rebounds and three steals. Elledge also made a pair of long balls and converted 7 of 9 from the charity stripe. She handed out three assists and matched Chelbi Eveland with her five steals.
"Ashley did a great job the whole game being aggressive," Kanyer said. "I expect her and Whitney to play like that every game."
Jeanie Mullins scored four points, Darian Atkinson and Stefana Bertucci three each, and Maddy McCoy and Kayla Reynolds both added two. Eveland led Morton/White Pass with eight rebounds and Nicole Anderson grabbed five.
"We would not have won without Jeanie’s defense," Kanyer said. "She really stepped up her play at the right time."
